This rich collection proves above all, that Bosch himself has been a source of inspiration from his time until now and that is no doubt what he will remain.

The majority of the papers presented at the 2012 conference are printed in this volume. Each author gives his own perspective for looking at the patrons of Bosch and at the intended or later audience of his paintings. This results in a wide variety of essays proving above all, that Bosch himself has been a source of inspiration from his own time onwards.

(4th Conference) Jheronimus Bosch, His Life and his Work

Over the course of three days, 28 lectures were given by presenters from 10 different countries for a highly international public, with participants from 5 continents. The large majority of these papers are printed in this volume. This resulted in a wide variety of fascinating and important essays, several of which report on recent conservation treatments.

(4th Conference) Jheronimus Bosch, His Workshop, and His Followers

Jheronimus Bosch remains an exceptionally popular painter and draughtsman. His death(in 1516) was commemorated five years ago with major exhibitions in ’s-Hertogenbosch and in Madrid, which together drew well over one million visitors, an astonishing success. The scholarly interest in the master from ’s-Hertogenbosch has often focused on the often-peculiar iconography of some of his works, which historians of art have tried to explain and decipher since the late 19th century.
